Our approach
We use necessary technologies to operate and protect our Squarespace website. Optional analytics or other non-essential technologies are used only where permitted and, where consent is required, only after you choose to accept them.
1. About this policy
This policy explains how Bakerwood Research Services uses cookies and similar technologies on its website. It should be read with our Website and Client Privacy Notice, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.
Our website is provided through Squarespace. The cookies generated on a particular visit depend on the website features in use, your choices and any third-party services enabled at that time
2. What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a small piece of data stored on a computer, phone or other device when you visit a website. Cookies can remember a choice, support security or help the website owner understand how the site is used. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixels, tags and device identifiers. In this policy, ‘cookies’ includes these similar technologies unless the context says otherwise.
Some cookies are set directly by our website or Squarespace on our behalf. Others may be set by a separate provider when a third-party feature is enabled.
3. The UK rules that apply

Where consent is required, declining must be as easy as accepting. We do not treat silence, continued browsing or a pre-selected option as consent. You can change or withdraw your choice without unnecessary difficulty.

4.1. Necessary and security technologies
These support essential website functions, protect forms or sessions, prevent technical errors and remember privacy choices. Where the relevant legal exception applies, they operate without optional consent because the requested service could not be provided properly without them.
4.2. Analytics and performance technologies
These can help us understand visits, sessions, traffic sources and how people use the website. Squarespace's standard analytics cookies identify unique visitors and track sessions. We therefore treat them as optional and restrict them until consent unless we have completed and documented an assessment that a specific legal exception applies to the precise use.
4.3. Marketing and third-party technologies
These could be used to measure campaigns, personalise advertising or connect the website to external media or social platforms. Bakerwood does not claim to use these unless the relevant service is actually enabled. If introduced, non-essential technologies will be documented and blocked until consent where required.

6. Feature-dependent storage and third-party services
Squarespace can use additional cookies or local storage when optional features such as customer accounts, e-commerce, appointment scheduling, announcement bars, promotional pop-ups or uploaded video preferences are enabled. These features are not included in the schedule above unless they are present on Bakerwood's live site.
Third-party integrations, embedded videos, social-media plugins, analytics tools or code added to the website may set their own cookies. Squarespace warns that its built-in banner does not necessarily block every cookie created by custom code or every third-party service. We review each service before enabling it and update this policy and our consent controls where needed.
The Bakerwood participant-registration link opens a form hosted by Microsoft Forms. A normal link does not itself embed the Microsoft service into our page, but Microsoft may use cookies once you visit its website. Microsoft's own notices and the Bakerwood Participant Privacy Notice apply to that registration process. If the form is later embedded directly in the Bakerwood website, we will reassess the cookies and consent requirements before publication.
7. How to manage your choices
Where optional cookies are available, our cookie banner or preference centre gives you the ability to accept, decline or manage them by category. Necessary cookies cannot normally be disabled through the preference centre because they support the service or record your privacy choice.
• Reject optional cookies: select the decline option in the cookie banner.
• Choose by category: open Manage cookies and switch optional categories on or off.
• Change a previous choice: use the persistent Cookie Settings or Manage cookies control in the website footer or subfooter.
• Use browser controls: block or delete cookies through the browser's privacy settings. Blocking necessary cookies may affect website functions.
Deleting cookies may remove the record of your previous choice, so the banner may appear again. Contact us if you cannot access the preference control or need help.
8. Personal information generated by cookies
Cookie information may include an identifier, IP address, device or browser details, visit time, referring page, pages viewed, session information and recorded preferences. We use this information only for the purposes described here and in our Website and Client Privacy Notice. We do not sell cookie information.
Squarespace and any properly authorised technology provider may process relevant technical information to provide its service. Their processing locations and transfer arrangements can vary. 9. How long cookie information is kept
Each cookie remains for the period shown in the schedule unless you delete it sooner. A session cookie normally expires when the relevant browsing session ends. A persistent cookie remains until its stated expiry, deletion or replacement. Aggregated statistics that no longer identify an individual may be retained separately for legitimate business analysis.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if our website features, cookie providers, consent controls or legal requirements change. The latest version will show its last-updated date. Where a material change affects an existing consent choice, we will request a fresh choice where required.
